Task 11: Recommended tools for social media engagement

From your examinations and investigations choose two social media applications/tools that you would recommend as being of the most benefit to libraries. Give detailed reasons why you recommend these two tools?

Facebook and Twitter - Both are similar, they update followers on upcoming events and news at the library that they may not hear about otherwise. You don't have to be a member of the library to follow them.

Email is the other, when you become a member of the library you can sign-up to receive an eNewsletter. This also gives you information on upcoming events, suggested reading and important notices monthly.

These applications are an excellent marketing tool for libraries as they promote events and different uses for the library than just borrowing books.

Changing the look of my blog

Task 8: Changing the look of my blog The colours on your blog can be changed. Click on the template tab on the left-hand side. Choose a template and then click on Customise. Here you can experiment with different backgrounds or themes. Make sure you click "Apply to blog". Write a new post and write a comment about your new colours. You may have already made these kinds of changes to your blog – you don’t need to change them again. Briefly describe what you have done. I changed the background picture, changed the font type to ' syncopate' and the font colours.
